Summer Blockbuster Look

Turn any picture into a breathtaking still shot from a famous blockbuster movie by simply adjusting colors of an image.

Step 1

Open an image to which you would like to add the summer blockbuster movie look in Pixelmator.

Step 2

To reduce the saturation of an image, choose Image > Hue and Saturation and drag the Saturation slider to approximately -10. Click OK.

Step 3

To darken the shadows of an image, choose Image > Levels and drag the Black slider a little bit to the right. Click OK when done.

Step 4

Now accentuate green and blue colors in the image by choosing Image > Curves, select the Green color and drag the starting point of the curve to position it a bit higher (to approximately 10).

Then click to select the Blue color and position the starting point to approximately 15 on the vertical axis and approximately 30 on the horizontal axis. Use the example in the image below as a reference. Click OK when done.

Step 5

In order to brighten and warm up the image, choose Image > Channel Mixer. Chanel Mixer is a creative way to adjust color by mixing the color channels, so it may sound complicated at first, it is much more easier than it seems. In the Channel Mixer palette, clik to select the Blue Channel and drag sliders to set Red to -10%, Blue to 72%, Constant to 10. Click OK and save your new summer movie look shot!
