To create some drama in your picture, apply a simple, yet gripping ghosting effect.
Step 1
Open an image to which you would like to add a ghosting effect in Pixelmator.

Step 2
Start by creating some motion. To do that, first, duplicate image layer by choosing Layer > Duplicate. Change the recently duplicated layer Opacity to 50% in the Layers palette (View > Show Layers). Then, use the Move Tool (V) to drag the layer horizontally just a bit to any side of the image.

Step 3
Repeat the previous step for a more convincing result.

Step 4
Click to select the Eraser Tool (E) in the Tools palette and use it to erase the background from the both duplicated layers, leaving only the main ghosting object in the image (in our case, the bride on a horse). Use the example in the image below as a reference.

Step 5
To create even more ethereal look, add a cold color tone to the image. To do that, first, click the Add button (+) in the Layers palette to add a new layer.
Then select a Gradient Tool (G) and click to select a light blue gradient preset in the Gradients palette (View > Show Gradients). Using the Gradient Tool, apply the gradient on the recently created layer. To blend the filter with a whole image, change layer’s Blending to Soft Light. And your ghosting effect is done!
